Task One: Get Started In 6 Easy Steps

Affiliate marketing is an easy to start online business, but the fact is it requires hard work to become successful, at least initially. 
In this series "How To Succeed in Affiliate Marketing", I will provide some basics, as well as advanced tools that you can use to make money on the internet as an affiliate. 
Starting with this 1st article,  you will learn the six basic steps that are required to enter into this business. I keep the steps here brief and simple. You must follow these steps in order to become successful otherwise you would not get the desired results.

1. Pick a Market

Why choose a market instead of product?  Simply because you would want to put more products in your pipeline. You’d do best if you choose a market which you have an interest in and suits your style. Like any other start-up, you have to find detailed information and learn as much as you can about it.

2. Pick a Product

When you have picked a specific market, now it is time to select a product. It is wise to start small and grow the business gradually. If you choose a lot of products from the beginning, your attention will be diverted and you will not be able to focus. So it is better to choose one product to get the most out of it.  When you have started to get some sales then you can add more products.

3. Use an Autoresponder

To get your business going, you will need to create a follow up messages by using an autoresponder. These messages will provide content- information about your product and induce your prospects to buy your products. If you are selling golf clubs, you can build a series having some basic information about golfing and golf clubs. Your visitors then can see how they can purchase golf clubs. Be aware that in most cases, during the period of first few months you might not get a lot of sales. But after six months, expect to gain momentum and much better sales.

 4. Build a Page to Capture Emails

Create a page in your website where you will capture information about your prospects so you can send them your follow-up series. If you are building a business, having your own web site is required so you can show your affiliate products to buy. You will need to  grab the visitor’s emails to promote your email campaigns.

5. Use Traffic Generation Techniques

Once your website is up, use some traffic generation techniques. The key here is to test and test the results and see what works best. Try different techniques and keep testing. Then if you find an ad, a description that works, continue with the technique that shows best results.

6. Find additional related products

Once you have started to make a good and reliable income with a single product, then you should add some new products to your products’ list. If possible, start with a single, hot product to gain good results. Concentrate on this single product, make your website to display the product and capture the email addresses of visitors. Use these email addresses and your website to start a powerful advertisement campaign to drive maximum traffic to your website. Then, add more products and repeat the process.
